Grapevine House
The façade and construction of Grapevine House is wooden, as wood is one of the few sustainable materials in modern architecture. The façade is compact, yet dynamic. Variety is often a problem with passive houses, due to the constrained size of the windows. This problem is solved via the use of grapevines that provide shade during the summer and all but vanish during the winter, thus allowing larger windows with higher transparency. The grapevines also establish a connection between the homeowners and nature, with the added bonus of fresh grapes.
